The most delicious Desserts in Crete, Greece

Everyone knows of all the amazing delicacies Cretan Cuisine has to offer such as the famous kalitsounia, dakos or snails. But have you heard about how amazing the desserts on this island are?

How about a fried ice cream which is called “tiganito pagoto” in Greek? Yes that’s right! A delicious ice cream usually vanilla flavor but you can get in with chocolate sometimes is draped in filo pastry, it is then deep fried for a few minutes until the fillo is just enough golden and crispy enough and then served with a dose of whipped cream , nuts and some chocolate on top. You can have it just with the whipped cream if you do not wish to add the extra toppings or purely on its own. Some people feel that it Is a meal in its own right…

Another famous dessert are the “loukoumades” which are fried dough balls that are then dipped in honey and sesame if you wish to try them as they are originally served. If you wish to sweeten them up even further let some chocolate sauce drip over them for extra pleasure.

Some other desserts that are famous on the island is the milk rice dessert! Yes you read that right, a lot of people are not fascinated by the description but as soon as to take a spoon full your senses are blown away.
